H.G. Geevarghese Mar Osthathios has been a true visionary and has been the diocese bishop of Niranam for the past few decades. His humble outlook and love for the poor has always made him a man of great social respect and vision. He has written many books and has represented Orthodox church in many debates and councils in different parts of the world.

BIOGRAPHY
His grace was born on 9th December 1918 in Mavelikara as the son of Munduvelil Kochitty and Mariamma Kochitty. Preliminary education was completed at Boys High School Mavelikara. He had done his B.D. from Jabalpur Lenard Theological College, M.A from Dru University, USA and S.T.M. from Union Seminary.

On 10.05.1956 he received priesthood from Moran Mar Geevarghese II Catholicos. He had served as Vicars of Kuzhimattom, Calcutta, Changanachery, Karapuzha. He was consecrated as Rumban on 14.02.1975 by Mar Philaxinose Metropolitan at Puthencavu St.Marys Cathedral.

He became a Metropolitan on 15.02.1975 and renamed as Geevarghese Mar Osthathios by Moran Mar Baselious Ougen Catholicos. He took the charge of Niranam Diocese on 1st April 1975. He was earlier Principal to Vaidika Seminary, K.C.C. President and President of Society of Cross. Presently he is working as the President of Youth Movement, Mission Board, Marriage Endowment Fund, Theological Literature Committee, Bible Society, NAMS etc.

Mavelikara St.Paul's Gospel Training Centre, Puthupady St.Paul's Ashram and Balbhavan, Panayambala Karunagiri Balbhavan, Yetharam Balgram, Haripad St.Thomas Balbhavan are the sincere efforts of Thirumeni. Thirumeni is a theological acumen, convention speaker and author of more than 26 books. He had represented Malankara Church to the World Council of Churches..
